Subject:
Poor Ireland in the 1830s
This is an extraordinary description of a county where almost all the work available was agricultural based. the people were poor. But there was no suggestion of the Famine which was on the horizon. The authorities had little interest in infrastructure other than barracks, courthouses and prisons.
It is well written.
It is very comprehensive as it covers every aspect of georgaphy, commerce, and administration.
